REISER, ANNA MARIE "ANN," GULLION, 91, passed away Tuesday, September 20, 2011 at Mercy Sacred Heart Village.

Ann was born in Louisville on May 4, 1920, attended Holy Name grade school, Presentation Academy and Spalding University. She taught 3rd grade at Sts. Simon and Jude for over 25 years and helped form the Dr. Charles Shedd Reading Program for children with dyslexia at the school. Ann also tutored children from her home.

Ann had a huge heart for helping others and giving back to the community. She volunteered with Meals on Wheels program through South Louisville Community Ministries for over 20 years. She tutored children at the former St. John Vianney School and was very active in the church. She was a Eucharistic minister and spent much of her time visiting those who could not leave their homes. She often visited many nursing homes, including Mercy Sacred Heart Village. Ann was a member of the Catholic Golden Age and Golden Key Club, and was an Ursuline Associate.

Ann loved being with her family and friends, never meeting a stranger and had a very social personality. Playing cards, crocheting, cross-stitching, ceramics and traveling with the girls were some of her favorite activities.

Preceding her in death were her husband, Joseph A. Reiser; son, Joseph R. Reiser; parents, Rolla David and Mary "Minnie" Rose Gullion; brother, R.D. Gullion; three sisters, Rose Hummelgard, Martha Potts, and Ruth Donohue; great-granddaughter, Emma Stolte and many close friends.

She leaves behind to cherish her loving memory, three daughters, Janice Hill, Jean Ann Winston and Judy Beyerle; nine grandchildren, Barbi Haddow (Tim), John Hill (Krissy), Kendra Stolte (Nick), Ashley Mues (Jeff), Anna Beyerle, Eric Beyerle, Kathleen Fleck, Dawn Brock and Troy Berry (Ivette); and ten great-grandchildren. Also surviving are many special nieces, nephews and cousins.

The funeral Mass will be 10 a.m. Saturday, September 24 at St. Barnabas Church, 3042 Hikes Lane, with burial in Louisville Memorial Gardens West. Visitation will be 2-8 p.m. on Friday at Ratterman and Sons, 3800 Bardstown Road.
