Slavey, James R. "Jim" View/Sign Guest Book SLAVEY, JAMES R. "JIM", 73, of Mt. Washington, previously of the Shively area, passed away Sunday, October 7, 2007 at Baptist Hospital East. Jim was a retired switchman for Norfolk Southern Railroad, formerly K & I Railroad, where he had 35 years of service. He was also a U. S. Army veteran. He was preceded in death by his mother, Frances Hodges. Jim is survived by his wife, Shirley M. Slavey; a daughter, Jena Bain (Mark); a son, Michael Slavey (Kelly) as well as seven grandchildren and three great- grandchildren. He is also survived by special friends, Bob and Marilyn Beam. Jim will be sadly missed by his family and friends. His funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, October 10, 2007 at Ratterman & Sons Funeral Home, 3800 Bardstown Road with burial to follow in Louisville Memorial Gardens West. Visitation will be from 2 - 8 p.m. Tuesday. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to WHAS Crusade for Children. Published in The Courier-Journal on 10/9/2007.
