Maude Mason Share E-mail Visit Guest Book MASON, MAUDE, 80, of Louisville, passed away on Monday, August 31, 2009 at the Forum Senior Healthcare at Brookside after a long and courageous battle with Alzheimer's Disease.
She was a beloved homemaker, a lifelong Baptist and a member of First Baptist Church of Middletown. She will be most remembered as a giver of her unconditional love to family and friends. She was the former Maude Hopkins, a native of London, KY.
Preceding her in death were her parents, Willie and Ellen (Smith) Hopkins; brothers, Bev Hopkins, Jim Hopkins and Bill Hopkins Jr.; sister, Laura Richards.
She is survived by her husband of 62 years, Richard Mason Jr.; sons, Donald Lee Mason (Karen) and Richard Mason III; brothers, Kenneth Ray Hopkins and Claude Eugene Hopkins (Margie), of Cincinnati, OH; sister, Magnola Bedard of Orlando, FL; grandsons, Shane Richard Mason (Andrea) and Daniel Paul Mason (Ashley); granddaughters, Julie Rene Lancaster (J.J.) and Carla Michelle Judd (Kevin); and seven precious great-grandchildren.
Our family extends a heartfelt thank-you to all the staff and personnel at the Forum at Brookside for their compassionate care and support during her last two years.
Funeral service will be 10 a.m. Thursday at Pearson Ratterman Brothers Funeral Home (12900 Shelbyville Rd.), with burial in Louisville Memorial Gardens West. Visitation is 4-8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, The family requests memorial gifts be made to Hosparus, American Diabetes Association or First Baptist Church of Middletown.
