NEW ALBANY - Ries, Raymond L., 77, resident of New Albany, and formerly of Edwardsville, died Wednesday, May 29, 2013 at Floyd Memorial Hospital in New Albany. The son of the late John Edward and Rosella (Schneider) Ries, Raymond was born June 28, 1935 in Louisville, KY. Raymond was a veteran of the U.S. Army and retired as a meat cutter from Kroger's on lower Brownsboro Road in Louisville after 49-1/2 years. He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in New Albany, an avid fisherman and frequented the Golden Corral and Hardees.

Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Wanda S. Vinson; and siblings, Doris Payne, Anthony Ries and Shirley Webb.

Survivors include: children, Tim Ries (Anna), Mike Ries (Cindy), Dale Ries, Edward Ries (Laura), and Roxanne McCarty (Kelly); siblings, Betty Lamey, Johnny Ries, Norbert Ries, and Mike Ries; five stepchildren; 12 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be 3-6 p.m. Sunday and 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday at Kraft Funeral Service, 708 E. Spring Street, New Albany, IN. There will be a Rosary Service at 6 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. His Funeral Service will be 11 a.m. Tuesday in the Kraft Spring Street Chapel with burial to follow in Louisville Memorial Gardens West.

In lieu of flowers, contributions in his memory may be made to Hosparus of Southern Indiana.
