Ward, A. Ray,74, returned to his Heavenly Father Thursday, November 13, 2014. He was born March 15, 1940, to the late Ruby A. Ward and Albert Ward. Ray graduated from Valley High School in 1958. He was a proud Viking who kept in touch and cared for many of his former classmates. He continued his education at U of L, in business and went on to be the co-owner and President of Kentech Machinery, until he retired in the late '80s.He was proceeded in death by his sisters; Dorothy Brown and Mildred Wilkins; brother-in-law Miller L. Wilkins; and his former wife Kim A. Perkins. All of whom he cherished and longed to be reunited with.Ray was a Christian and professed his faith and trust in God. He had many eclectic interests including cooking, dancing, saddlebred horses, and writing. Ray was the life of the party and lit up every room he walked into. He entertained many with his gift of singing and playing the keyboard, his greatest passion in life. He loved all genres of music, especially gospel. During his younger years he sang with The Masters Quartet. Ray will be greatly missed and not forgotten by all of those who loved and knew him. He is survived by his son, Kevin R. Ward: daughter, Cyonne Heller Thompson (Terry); brother, Darrell E. Ward (Paula); four grandchildren, Allyson, Kimberly, Lauryn, and Brent; and a host of cousins, nieces, and nephews.Funeral services will be held noon Tuesday at the Owen Funeral Home 5317 Dixie Hwy. Following his service Ray will be laid to rest in Louisville Memorial Gardens West.Visitation will be at Owen Funeral Home, Dixie Hwy location on Monday, November 17, 2014 from 2-8 p.m. with services on Tuesday at noon. Minister David Scott will be officiating.
