Alberta George

George, Alberta Whitt,83, of Treasure Island, FL, went to her heavenly home on February 28, 2015.Alberta was born on September 17, 1931, in Crittenden County, KY, and was a former resident of Louisville.She is preceded in death by a grandson, Alex Whitt Bishop, and a great-grandson, Jackson O'Neal Wheat. Alberta is survived by her devoted husband of 64 years, Kenneth R. George; her children, Lisa Bishop (Royce), Randy George (Terri) and Laura Band (Jack); grandchildren Adam Bishop (Ellen), Allen Bishop (Jennifer), Andy Bishop (Kristen), Aaron Bishop (Heather), Jeremy George, Brandon George (Jocelyn), Joel George (Crystal), Ryan Band (Amie), Emily Wheat (Jeremy); 18 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.Family was very important to Alberta, and she was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Always very involved in the family construction business, she even started her own company and built several houses in south Louisville. Throughout her life, she was very active in her church and was a member of Church by the Sea in Madeira Beach, FL. Visitation will be held at Highlands Funeral Home, 3331 Taylorsville Road, on Sunday, March 8, 2015 from 2-8 p.m. Her funeral service will be 11 am, Monday at Highlands with burial in Louisville Memorial Gardens West.In leiu of flowers, donations may be made the Beechland Baptist Church Building Fund, 4613 Greenwood Road, Louisville, KY, 40258, or Compassion International at compassion.com
