Alberta Higdon

Higdon, Alberta Nell,77, of Louisville, KY. went home to be with our heavenly Father, Wednesday, September 9, 2015. She was born in Yamen (Grayson County), Ky., moved to Louisville as a teenager where she married her husband in 1956, and had five children. She retired from Old Fitzgerald in 1994 at which time they moved to Eastview, Ky, to enjoy their retirement. She was a wonderful wife, mother, sister, grandmother, great grandmother and friend. She was preceded in death by her husband of 58 years, Charles E. Higdon; son, Jerry W. Higdon, grandson, Christopher D. Farnsley, granddaughter, Amanda J. Geiser, father, Wavy Shain, and mother, Agnes M. Vandiver.She is survived by four daughters, Debbie Newsome, Wanda McDougall (Jeff), Brenda Neville and Janice Hoban (Tom); her sister, Linda Perry; eight grandchildren; thirteen great grandchildren; and her caretaker and friend, Teresa Meredith.Funeral services will be 9 a.m. Saturday at Owen Funeral Home, 5317 Dixie Highway with burial in Louisville Memorial Gardens West. Visitation will be from 12 - 8 p.m. Friday.
