KLINGENFUS, ALFRED EMIL "AL," 92, passed away Thursday, March 10, 2011 at the Episcopal Church Home in Lyndon.
Alfred was born to Emil and Nettie Lee Klingenfus in Crestwood, KY, on October 5, 1918 and graduated from Crestwood High School.
On August 14, 1942, he married the love of his life, Etta Cobb McAlister. They shared a joyful life together for over 66 years. Alfred was a lifelong dairy farmer. He devoted himself to the community by serving for decades on the county ASCS committee and the Oldham County Zoning Appeals Board. Al was named one of the county's "Living Treasures" in October 2008, by the Oldham Era and the Oldham County Historical Society.
Al was the beloved father of five sons, Clayton "Corky" (Karen), of Louisville, Eric "Rick" (Janelle), of Smithfield, Gerald "Jerry" (Becky) of Crestwood, Jeffrey "Jeff" (Connie) of Smithfield and William "Billy Mac" deceased. He was the admired grandfather of 11grandchildren and great-grandfather of 12. He was "Uncle Al" to many loving nieces and nephews.
Al was a devoted follower of Jesus Christ and actively participated in the Mt. Tabor United Methodist Church.
Visitation will be Sunday from 2-8 p.m. at Stoess Funeral Home, Crestwood. Funeral will be Monday, 11 a.m., Mt. Tabor United Methodist Church.
