Alfred Oehrle

OEHRLE, ALFRED "FRITZ," 90, passed away November 13, 2011 at Meadowview Nursing Home.

He was a lifelong resident of Shively, KY. Fritz was one of ten children, born of Alfred and Magdelena Oehrle, Swiss immigrants, all predeceased. The family owned and operated the now defunct Oehrle Dairy.

Al retired from International Harvester after 31 years service. He was the developer of the Oehrle Subdivision in Shively, served in the US Army, World War II (European Theatre), and is a current member of St. Lawrence Catholic Church, American Legion Post # 220 and I-H Retirees Club. He also served on the Shively Volunteer Fire Dept.

He is preceded in death by his loving wife of 63 years, Carolyn and an infant son, Richard.

He is survived by daughters, Linda Smith (Tom), Judee Richardson (Darrell) and Donna Nacke (John); six grandchildren, Scott Smith (Stacey), Richard Walsh, Lisa Eaton (Mike), Drew Richardson, Meghan and David Nacke; four great-grandchildren, Brennan and Kylie Walsh and Alyssa and Adam Eaton.

"Our Dad was the ultimate family man, so kind and considerate. He loved and cared for his wife, Carolyn, like no other." Visitation will be 5 - 7 p.m. Wednesday at St. Lawrence Catholic Church, 1925 Lewiston Dr., 40216, with the funeral Mass immediately following.
