Ann S. "Granny" Hoke, loving wife to Gilbert L. Hoke, Sr., was called to her Eternal Home with the Lord at home, Friday October 31, 2014. She was born to the late James B. and Leah O'Bryan Barbour on November 12, 1931 in Louisville. She was a long time resident of Shively where she and Gilbert raised their 11 children.
She was also preceded in death by sister, Lillian P. Barbour, son, Patrick L. Hoke, son-in-law, Thomas Williams, and niece, Emily Flowers.
Granny was an extraordinary lady who was blessed with a large and loving family. She was a graduate of Mercy Academy. She worked at Louisville Auto Auction for 32 years before retiring; she was a devoted parishioner of St. Helen's Church for 50 years, where she volunteered for 30 years as President of the Altar Society.
Besides her husband of over 60 years, she is survived by her step-mother, Lillian Barbour, 10 of her 11 children; Tammy Cox, RoseAnn Williams, Jimmy Hoke, Tutti Higdon (Mike), Dottie Lee Hoke, Scrap Hoke (Cathy), Peter Hoke (Trish), MariEtta Justice (Charlie), Joey Hoke (Luza), and Gina Hoke along with siblings; twin sister, Jane "Sister Ignatius Maria Barbour", Virginia Turner, Mary Kay Haas, Tommy, Johnny, Donnie Barbour; with over 80 grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
