Morris, Anna MORRIS, ANNA "RUTH" (COOKSEY), (FERRIELL), 70, passed away Friday, July 6, 2007 at Hospice and Palliative Care in LaGrange, KY. She was a member of Our Lady of Lourdes Church. Ruth was a graduate of Manual High School class of 1954, an employee of Best Western Brownsboro Road, a former employee of Churchill Downs and South Park Country Club. She was preceded in death by her parents, Fannie Bell and James Earl Cooksey. Survivors include her children with Robert A. Ferriell: Ronald Ferriell (Peggy), Janice Ferriell (Leo), Julie Woodruff and Michael Ferriell (Cindy); husband, Marvin V. Morris, of Orlando, FL; siblings, Dorothy Warren (Lee), Earleen Houldsworth (Bill), Don Cooksey (Carol) and James Cooksey (Ann); nine grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren; stepdaughter, Julie Garrett (Joey); and three stepgrandchildren. Ruth always enjoyed life to the fullest. A generous lady who took great pride in her family, friendships and religion. Always donning a kind smile and open heart, nothing gave her more pleasure than serving others. This took the form of attending to her grandchildren through sport activities and school events, hosting family functions, enjoying time with her neighbors and friends, working the breakfast bar at Best Western and serving on her church bereavement committee. Although she will be greatly missed by all, we know her commitment to the Lord ensures her a secure journey home. The family wishes to express their gratitude to the nurses, doctors and staff of the Hospice and Palliative Care Unit in LaGrange, KY for their understanding, compassion, friendship and superb care for Ruth and her family during this difficult time. Her funeral Mass will be 10 a.m. Tuesday at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, 508 Breckenridge Lane, with burial in Louisville Memorial Gardens West. Visitation will be from noon-4 and 6-8 p.m. Monday at Ratterman Funeral Home, 3711 Lexington Road, Louisville, KY 40207.
