THOMPSON, ATHLENE P., 78, passed away Wednesday, March 14, 2012 at her residence.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Virsel Thompson and her parents, Les and Lecta Payne.

She is survived by her daughter, Gail Thompson; son, Bruce Thompson; two sisters, Geneva Wisdom and Juanita French; her beloved dog, Buddy; a host of nieces and nephews and all the children she cared for over the years.

A celebration of Athlene's life will be held on Monday at 2 p.m. at the Fairdale McDaniel Funeral Home with emtombment at Louisville Memorial Gardens West. Visitation will be Monday, 11 a.m.-2 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to the family.
