DECKARD, AUBREY BUSHONG "A.B.," 78, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loved ones on June 26, 2013.
He was born April 30, 1935 in Gamaliel, KY to the late Edith Ray Browning and Stanley M. Deckard. He was preceded in death by his loving son, Rick S. Deckard. First and foremost in his life was his love for his wife of 56 years, Sharon Rae Deckard. He was a devoted father to Noni Woodward (Doug), Rick Deckard, and Laura Adams; as well as the best Papa to his 12 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.
Aubrey's love and his infectious sense of humor emanated to all wherever he went. He retired from B.F. Goodrich after 39 years. During that time he was involved with the Distillery Wine, and Allied Workers Local 72, Executive Board Local 72, Board of Directors at Chemco FCU, and a volunteer with the South Dixie Fire Department. After retirement, he had the pleasure of working for Funeral Auto for 16 years along with Ratterman Funeral Service.
His funeral service will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Ratterman Grand Chapels, 4832 Cane Run Road with burial in Louisville Memorial Gardens West. Visitation will be 1-8 p.m. Friday.
