Benjamin Simon Denzinger Jr., 88, of Prospect passed away on Tuesday evening at his home surrounded by the family he loved and good friends. Ben was born December 6, 1923 in Louisville.
He was a Navy Veteran and served during WWII aboard the USS Sage as Seaman First Class. Ben worked at Naval Ordnance and was a self employed Handyman. He had a powerful impact on the lives of those he touched and always had a kind word to offer.
He cherished his wife and loved his family and close friends. Ben loved to fish and dance with his wife, as well as hunting and fishing with friends and family. He played the banjo and mandolin.
He was a man of faith and loved the Lord.
Left to cherish his memory are his wife of 61 years, Jeannie (Browne) Denzinger; daughter, Sherry Vitatoe; two grand-daughters, Angela Martin (Danny) and Mary Holtzman (Jamie); three great-grandchildren, Robert Holtzman, Cheri Holtzman and Madison Martin; sister, Bette Rose Connelly.
A service to celebrate the life of Ben will be conducted at 10:00am Saturday, September 22, 2012 in the chapel of Arch L. Heady & Son at Westport Village. Entombment will follow at Louisville Memorial Gardens East. Visitation will be from 2-8pm on Friday.
