Bernard Lee Carey ShareE-mail Visit Guest Book CAREY, BERNARD LEE, 79, of Louisville, passed away Thursday, June 18, 2009 at his home. He was a retired locomotive engineer for Illinois Central Railroad, a former member of the Parkland Masonic Lodge, the Louisville Scottish Rite and the Kosair Shrine. He was a Kentucky Colonel and a member of Park United Methodist Church. He was preceded in death by his grandson, David Shawn Velten. He is survived by his wife, Mary L. (Shuck) Carey; daughters, Saundra Ellen Kenney (Steve), Sharon Lee Yountz and Susan Diane Mitchell (Jack); grandchildren, Amy, Patrick, Billy and Daniel; great grandchildren, Claudia, Willie and Blake; sister, Martha Ann Mitchell (Owen); and several nieces and nephews. His service will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at Owen Funeral Home, 5317 Dixie Highway, with burial in Louisville Memorial Gardens West. Visitation is Monday 1-8 p.m. at the funeral home. Expressions of sympathy may be made to the American Cancer Society or to Kosair Charities.
