Bernice Slack

Slack, Bernice F.,92, of Louisville, passed peacefully on March 22, 2015 at Baptist Health with her family by her side. She was the former Bernice Metcalf and a retired sales associate for Shillitos. She was a devout member for over 40 years at Highview Baptist Church and a member of the "Lotta Chatta Club" since she was in high school. Bernice was an avid golfer, bridge and pinochle player. She was predeceased by her parents, Fred and Frances Holcomb Metcalf; her husband Earl Holmes Slack; her twin, Bea McRae; brother, Fred Metcalf Jr. and a sister, Rosemary Johnson. Left to cherish her sweet memory are her children, Sherry Small (Larry), Linda Logsdon (Danny), Vicki Cobble (Melvin) and Mark Slack; 10 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-granddaughter. A Life Celebration will be held on Thursday, March 26, 2015 at noon at the Arch L. Heady at Resthaven Chapel, 4400 Bardstown Road with a private interment in Louisville Memorial Garden's West. Visitation will be on Wednesday from 2-8 p.m. and after 10 a.m. on Thursday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the Highview Baptist Church or Gethsemane Baptist Church.
