MATTINGLY, BETTY LOU, 79, of south Louisville, passed away Saturday November 17, 2012 at Baptist Hospital East.
She was the former Bettty Ray, a retired production worker for P. Lorillard Tobacco Company where she had worked for over 25 years, also a lifetime devoted member of Lynnhurst United Church of Christ, where she worked in food preparation, tending to the altar candles, assisting with the church bulletin and in any other capacity that had a need for a volenteer. She also devoted time to South Louisville Community Ministries, Meals on Wheels, Kid's Cafe and especially with the sale of Lillies and Poinsettas for the Kentucky Hemophilia Foundation. Betty was also a very avid UK fan. GO CATS! She was preceded in death by sons, Neal and Denny Meadors; brother, Tolby Ray; and grandchildren, Josh, Zach and Shelly.
Her survivors include, husband, Donald L. Mattingly; sons, Larry (Kim) and Steve (Anita) Meadors; daughters, Karie English (Charlie) and Tracey Meador; brother, Jim Ray (Doris); 12 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren; sisters-in-law, Betty Jean Ray and Colene Mattingly; also by her daughters-in-law, Dianne Hardman and Susie Meadors; and also by a very large host of other family members and friends.
Family was central to Betty's life. She throughly enjoyed time at the lake with them and playing games with her grandchildren. Betty was a person of deep faith that helped her get through so much in her life.
A Celebration of Life will be at 11am Wednesday at Lynnhurst United Church of Christ, 4401 Taylor Blvd., with interment in Louisville Memorial Gardens West. Visitation will be from 2-8 p.m. Monday and Tuesday at her church. Nunnelley Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
