DIXON, Bettye Ann Young, 86 of Louisville, passed away peacefully at her home, surrounded by her loving children, on September 14, 2012 on her birthday. As a devoted teacher for thirty years, she had a lasting impact on the lives of many children. Mrs. Dixon volunteered in multiple aspects of community life, including Home of the Innocents and Alliance Christian Academy, and was a member of Jeffersontown United Methodist Church. She was an inspiration not only to her family, but also to many friends and acquaintances. She graduated from Atherton High School and received her Master's degree in Education from the University of Louisville. She was preceded in death by her husband of 63 years, Clarence Kay Dixon, Jr. M.D.; her parents, Clarence Henry Young and Catherine Josephine (Dahl) Young; her brothers, Lance Young, Kenneth Young, John Young, Jack Young, Bob Young, and Ray Paul Young; and grandson, Jack Henry Evans. She is survived by her sister Joyce (Young) Von Almen; sons, Danny Dixon (Corinne) and Clancy Dixon; daughters, Linda Knutson (Carl), Rebecca Dixon, Kathy Dixon Cunningham (Mark), and Elisabeth Evans Watson (Greg); 12 grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. Her funeral service will be at 10:00 a.m. Monday, September 17, at Highlands Family-Owned Funeral Home, 3331 Taylorsville Road, with burial to follow in Louisville Memorial Gardens East.
