SMITH, BEVERLY OWEN "SMITTY," JR., 89, of Louisville, passed away on the evening of February 22, 2012 at his home with his loving wife by his side.
He was a retired electrician for American Air Filter; a U. S. Army veteran of World War II; a former member of 9th & O Baptist Church and a member of Moose Lodge #5.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Beverly O. and Virginia Bennett Smith Sr.; and a sister, Dorothy Noel.
Cherishing his memory is his wife, Cassie Gahafer Smith; children from a previous marriage, Linda (Don) Ernspiker, Doug Smith, Kate (Bill) Mann, Donnie (Linda) Thompson; three grandchildren; and several step-grandchildren.
Owen's Celebration of Life service will be held Monday, February 27, 2012 at noon at the Arch L. Heady at Resthaven Chapel, 4400 Bardstown Road, with interment in Louisville Memorial Gardens West. Visitation will be 2-8 p.m. on Sunday and after 10 a.m. on Monday at the funeral home.
Expressions of sympathy may be made to the Parkland Baptist Church or Catholic Charities.
