Thompson, Bill "Uncle Bill" View/Sign Guest Book THOMPSON, BILL "UNCLE BILL," 77, passed away at Clark Co. sub a cute rehab in Jeffersonville, IN, after a battle with cancer on Monday, June 16, 2008. He was known as "Uncle Bill" by everyone because he helped so many and was so dedicated to his job. His badge was the only one ever retired by the Fire Dept. and it still hangs on the wall at Engine # 17. He was a member of the Kentucky Retired Fire Fighters and the Kentucky Public Retirees Association. He was also a member of Clifton Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his son, James "Stewart" Thomason; brothers, Walter Lee and James Edward Thompson. He is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Jean; his son, Steve; his sister, Lucille Simms; four grandchildren, Joe, Amber, Ashli and Robert Thompson,; and two great-grandchildren, Lexi and Noah. A service to celebrate Bill's life will be held 1 p.m. Friday at Arch L. Heady-Cralle Funeral Home, 2428 Frankfort Avenue, with burial at Louisville Memorial Gardens West. Visitation will be 1-8 p.m. Thursday and after 10 a.m. Friday. We would like to express our thanks to Dr. Robert Mc Kechnie for all his wonderful care, love, support and concern. Bill thought the world of him, and everything he did for him. Also, we would like to thank the staff at the rehab for his wonderful care.
