GREER, BLANCHE JESSIE, 82, of Louisville, died February 15, 2012 at the Hosparus Inpatient Care Center.

Blanche was born in Barren County, KY on December 26, 1929 to Mae (Compton) and Joe Jessie. She worked at Louisville Cap Manufacturing and eventually retired from Derby Cap Manufacturing Company. Blanche was a member of Shively Baptist Church.

Blanche was preceded in death by her husband of 43 years, Harold Stanley Greer; two sisters, Mildred Smith and Kathy Chapman; and a great-niece who knew her as Mee Maw, Sherida Smith-Ashley.

She is survived by her only child, Pam Greer-Ullrich and son-in-law, Mark Ullrich; one stepgrandson, Scott Ullrich; two nieces whom she and Stanley raised, Sharon Marasco (David) and Sheila Wirth (Fred), a great nephew and great niece who knew her as Grandma, Rick Odom and Jennifer Coyle, three brothers, Danny Jessie (Debbie) of Louisville, Manual Jessie (Harriet) of Irvington, KY, Samuel Jessie (Lavinia) of Temple Hill, KY; five sisters, Margaret Ramey (Roscoe) and Linda Cannon (Wayne), of Cave City, KY, Jean Sexton (Ollis), of Edmonton, KY, Edna Sexton of Louisville, and Elsie Isenberg (Charles) of Orangeburg, SC; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday at Heady-Hardy Funeral Home, 7710 Dixie Hwy., with burial to follow at Louisville Memorial Gardens West. Visitation will be 1-8 p.m. Friday and after 10 a.m. Saturday.
