Carl Edward McCutchan Share E-mail Visit Guest Book MCCUTCHAN, CARL EDWARD, 91, servant of God, passed away on November 5, 2009 in his home surrounded by his family.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Carl P. and Lucretta C. Rowe; and also by his siblings, Mary Yost, Raymond, Thelma Yost and Omer.
Carl served admirably in the U. S. Navy during World War II, then became a tool and die maker, working at Tube Turns. He retired from General Electric Appliance Park after 31 years and was a member of Larchmont Church of God where he worked tirelessly in various leadership capacities. Carl was treasured as a role model for others in the church and community. He was also a member of the Jeffersontown Masonic Lodge # 774 and American Legion.
Carl was known by his loving personality and ready smiles - neighbors enjoyed their spontaneous chats during his daily walks. He enjoyed bowling, golfing, gardening and dancing with Verna.
Carl is survived by his loving wife of 69 years, the former Verna Mae Witten; daughters, Sandra Jones (James L.), Dr. Fay McCutchan, Beverly Cox; grandchildren, Sharilyn Jones Valladares (Jorge), Kimberly Martin (James), Heather Forrey and Erik Berglund (Xin). He took delight in great grandchildren "Nick" Gatlin, Hendrix Forrey, Julia and Daniel Martin, David Valladres, and Edvin Berglund. Carl is also survived by 11 nephews and nieces; many great-nephews and great-nieces and friends.
His funeral service will be 1 p.m. Monday, November 9, 2009 at Highlands Family-Owned Funeral Home, 3331 Taylorsville Rd., with burial to follow at Louisville Memorial Gardens West. Visitation is 2-6 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
