On Monday December 7, 2020, Carol Hampton, wife of Norman Hampton, loving mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and great-aunt, passed from this earthly life to be with her Lord, Jesus Christ. Carol was born on December 10, 1941 to the late Owen “Bud” and Elsie (Betz) Prather. She is also preceded in death by two brothers, Donny and Thomas “Tommy” Prather.
Besides her husband of 59 years she leaves to cherish her memory her children, Laura Hadorn (Jerry) and Mark Hampton (Angela), grandchildren Olivia and Michael Hadorn, her brother Richard “Dick” Prather (Deloris), sister in-law Nancy Prather, and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Carol will be remembered for her faith in Jesus, her kindness and compassion, the love she showed her family, her joy of decorating for Christmas and Easter, and her appreciation for the simple beauty that could be found in the things around her.
Carol saw her role as wife, mother, and grandmother as her first responsibility, but also worked outside the home. After approximately 7 years as a school secretary with JCPS, Carol began her career with Brown Forman and retired from there after more than 25 years of service. Carol was a life-long member of St. James Church, Evangelical and Reformed.
Funeral services will be held on Friday at 12:00 pm at St. James Church, Evangelical and Reformed, 3535 Taylor Blvd. Visitation will be Friday from 9:00 am until time of service at the church.
