JOHNSTON, CHARLES WILFRED, 80, of Valley Station, passed away September 9, 2013 at Jewish St. Mary's Hospital. Born in Hart County and raised in Grayson County, he was one of 14 children of the late Ewell and Vera Johnston. Wilfred served in the Korean War, retired from General Electric and was a longtime member of St. Peter The Apostle Catholic Church. He was preceded in death by his wife, Agnes Josephine (Lush) Johnston; son, James Johnston; brother , Armond Johnston; and sister, Bernita Sims. He is survived by his children, Charles W. Johnston, Jr., Deborah Sue Tomes (Ron), Patty Lichtsteiner (Henry), and Glenn Johnston (Joetta); and siblings , Juanita Higdon, Odaline Clemons, Royce Johnston, Lorena Shumar, Freeman Johnston, Georgetta Smith, Denise Sims, Judy Clemons, Wayland Johnston, Dwight Johnston, and Maryla White. He was also loved by eight grandchildren; and two great-grandsons. Visitation will be Wednesday 2-8 p.m. September 11, 2013 at Owen Funeral home at 5317 Dixie Highway. A service to celebrate his life will be held Thursday, September 12, 2013 at noon at St.Peter the Apostle Catholic Church at 5431 Johnsontown Road with burial at Louisville Memorial Gardens West.
