MOORE, COLONEL CHARLES R. SR., 78, of Louisville passed from this life on Thursday July 5, 2012 at Golden Living Nursing Home.
Charles was Colonel with the Old Louisville Police Department from which he retired after 30 years.
Charles was the son of the late Roscoe and Mary Carmelita (Abegg) Moore. He is also preceded in death by his brother ,Reverend R. Albert Moore; and great-granddaughters, Rebecca and Allison Moore.
He is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Wilma (Riggs) Moore; children, Charles Jr. (Brenda), Dennis (Trudy), Laurie Branstetter (Mike), Angela Dombroski (Jack), Eddie (Pattie), Lois Bateson (Gary), and Lynn Moore; 12 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
Charles was a 4th degree member of the Knights of Columbus and the Fraternal Order of the Police lodge 614.
A Mass for Charles's life will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Sts. Simon & Jude Catholic Church at 4335 Hazelwood Ave. with burial to follow in Louisville Memorial Gardens West. Visitation will be at the Southern Chapel of Arch L. Heady & Son, 3601 Taylor Blvd. from 2-8 p.m. Tuesday.
