Charles Cecil Spencer Jr. SPENCER, CHARLES CECIL JR., 92, passed away on Tuesday, January 26, 2010.
He was born in Nashville, TN on January 5, 1918. He and his family moved to Louisville in 1958 so he could continue his career with the L & N Railroad. He retired from the CSX (L & N) Railroad in January, 1981.
Mr. Spencer was a member of Shively Baptist Church. He was a deacon and taught young men's Sunday School. He was a World War II Navy veteran and served on the USS Tills and a member of the Phoenix Masonic Lodge No. 131 of Nashville, TN.
He was a devoted Christian, father, and husband. His gifts of love and deeds to his family and society will long be remembered.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Helen Louise Connelly Spencer.
He is survived by his three daughters, Becky White (Denzil), of Nashville, TN., Sharron Warren (Virgil), Nila Daley (Willie); three sons, Tim Bradshaw of Indian Rocks Beach, FL., Ronnie Spencer (Marilyn), and David Spencer (Pam); his loving sister, Erline Crouch, of Nashville, TN; 14 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.
His funeral service will be 11 a.m. Friday at Owen Funeral Home, 5317 Dixie Highway, with burial in Louisville Memorial Gardens West. Visitation will be from 1-8 p.m. Thursday.
