WHEATLEY, CHARLES RAY "GENE STUART" SR., 86, entered into rest on Friday, July 6, 2012.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Martha; his parents, Richard "Jack" and Monica Hayes Wheatley; sisters, Jackie Sue and Frances; brothers, Thomas, David, and Kenneth.
He was a maintenance supervisor with General Electric, a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II, member of the Knights of Columbus- Monsignor Newman #4665, a member of St. Vincent DePaul, a KY Colonel, and a founding member of St. Clement Parish (St. Peter the Apostle) He is survived by sons, Dennis (Pam), Stephen (Donna), Charles R. Jr., James (Chong Mi) and John (Gina); daughters, Rose Mary Prather (Gary), Marsha Parker (Tom), Mary Melinda Kelly( Stephen); sisters, Faye Ferry, Patsy Bush and Judy Winters; 17 grandchildren; and 27 great-grandchildren.
His funeral service will be on Tuesday, 11a.m. at St. Peter the Apostle Catholic Church, 5433 Johnsontown Road, with burial following in Louisville Memorial Gardens West. Visitation is on Monday from 10 a.m. - 8 p.m. at the W.G. Hardy Funeral Home.
