WHITWORTH, CHARLES E., 85, of Louisville, made his journey home to be with God, his wife and our mother on December 2, 2011.

He was born in Hardin County, KY on November 17, 1926 from the union of Homer and Mercy Whitworth. He was the oldest of four children, James (deceased), wife Vivian (deceased); Mildred Heiser, husband Wendel (deceased); Odelia Duvall "Pooch" (Norman). Charles and Oleta Goodman (deceased) were married on December 7, 1947 and were married for 51 years.

They were blessed with four children, Truett Dale (Carolyn), of Port Huron MI, Terry L. (Drue), of W. Lafayette, IN, Gary W., (Marcia), of Bremen KY, and Denise Clark (Ray Lee), of Hampton VA; 12 grandchildren; and 21 great-grandchildren.

Charles retired from Cable Printing in 1990 after over 40 years and embarked on a part time career as an Associate of J C Penney's, which lasted 21 years until August of 2011. Charles was an extremely active lifelong member of the First Cumberland Presbyterian Church of Louisville. He served numerous terms as an elder and on many committees in the guidance and growth of the church and its members.

He loved being outside doing yard work and fishing and was an accomplished wood worker.

Charles and Oleta loved to travel and spend time with their children and grandchildren.

"Dad, we Love You with all our hearts. May you and Mom be together and happy for all eternity in the new home God has made for you. We pray that we will all be together again as a family when God feels it's time." Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at 1st Cumberland Presbyterian Church, 4610 Manslick Road, with burial to follow in Louisville Memorial Gardens, West. Visitation will be Monday, 4-8 p.m. at Owen Funeral Home, 5317 Dixie Hwy.
