Ashby, Chester Ray Sr.,"A father is neither on an anchor to hold us back, nor a sail to take us there, but a guiding light whose love shows us the way."-Author UnknownAt 11:25am on April 10, 2015, Chester Ray Ashby Sr., passed away at Norton Hosparus Care in downtown Louisville, surrounded by family and friends. He was born March 2, 1945 in Hartford, Kentucky. A longtime native of Louisville, Chester retired from Fontaine Trucking in 2001. He was a member of Grace Praise and Worship Church on Gagel. Chester was the president of the Portland Little League for many years, he loved coaching little league. Chester was preceded in death by his loving wife, Betty Ashby; five children blessed their union, two sons and three daughters. Chester is succeeded in death by children, Chester Jr. (Denna), Lisa, Tina (Jeff Koebel), Jake (Holly), and Carla Waynescott (Rodney). Chester is also survived by six grandchildren, Justin, Adam, Korina, Madison, Kendall, and Aubrey, additionally in succession, there are two "adopted" daughters, Vonnie Portman and Debbie Jordan (Raymond), as well as sister, Linda Turner (Butch) and brother, Sam (Peggy). Visitation will be from 3-8 p.m. Tuesday, April 14, 2015 at Neurath & Schoppenhorst Funeral Home with funeral services on Wednesday at 1pm.
