TATUM, CHESTER A., 97, of Louisville passed away Sunday, January 16, 2011 at Sts. Mary & Elizabeth Hospital in the presence of family.
He was a native of Lyons, KY and was born to George Edgar Tatum and Mamie Rexroat Tatum. A World War II veteran who served in the US Army, he received five Bronze Stars while in North Africa and Europe. He was a retired machine repairer for General Electric and a member of Beechmont Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by one daughter, Sarah Tatum, parents; four brothers and two sisters.
Survivors include his wife, the former Helen Larkin; sons Gary (Doreen) and Mark Tatum (Kathy); brothers, Sam (Faye), George and Bill Tatum (Charlotte); eight grandchildren, Jennifer White (Todd), Julie Bennett (Kris) and Andrew, Aaron, Ashley, Alicia, Anthony and Amanda Tatum; and one great-granddaughter arriving in March.
Funeral service: 11 a.m. Wednesday at Nunnelley Funeral Home, 4327 Taylor Blvd., with burial at Louisville Memorial Gardens West. Visitation: 2 to 8 p.m. Tuesday.
