Clarence Coates Jr

Coates, Clarence,90, of Louisville, passed away Monday December 29, 2014 at Signature Health Center in Elizabethtown, KY.He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 70 years, Hazel Marie Shepherd Coates.He owned & operated Coates Oil Service from 1950-1980, he also was a welder for Hicks Equipment Co. and service assistant for Carter Alternator Inc. He was a longtime member of Cane Run General Baptist Church and helped found Mt. Calvary Baptist Church, he also was a member of Shively Masonic Lodge #9. He was an Army Veteran of World War II, European Theater (attached to General George Patton.)He is survived by his sons, Darrell (Reba) and Denny Coates (Donna); daughters, Norma Gee (Ron) and Marilyn Curtis (Gregg); nine grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.His funeral service will be 10:30 a.m. Friday, January 2, 2015 at Ratterman Grand Chapels, 4832 Cane Run Rd. Visitation to be Thursday 2-8 p.m.Expressions of sympathy to the Alzheimer Foundation.
