Wilson, Clyde L. "Butch" View/Sign Guest Book WILSON, CLYDE L. "BUTCH," 64, of Hillview, passed away Saturday, January 3, 2009. He was born April 8, 1944 in Jeffersonville, IN. He enlisted in the Army in February 1961; basic training at Ft. Leonard Wood, MO; Armor training at Ft. Knox, KY; then Jump School at Ft. Benning, GA in August 1963. He went into the 101st Abn. Div. November 1963, A Troop, 17th Cav., 2nd Plt. In 1964 went on Operation Desert Strike in Mojave, CA and November 1964, went on Project team at Ft. Bragg, NC with the 82nd Abn. He received a Letter of Commendation from the 822nd Abn. Div. in July 1965 with the 1st Bde. and boarded the ship Le Roy Eltinge. He arrived in Vietnam July 29, 1965 and served as Long Range Recon Patrol. He was in all major battles in 1965 and 1966. He received Combat Infantry Badge, Jump Wings, Vietnam Jump Wings, Army Commendation Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Good Conduct and Expert Rifle Medal. He was honorably discharged in August 1966. He was a Mason, a Kentucky Colonel and a life member of the DAV. He was also retired from DuPont. He is survived by his children, Dean Vaughn and Sharon White; sister, Ruby Craig and her husband, Glen; one grandson; his beloved friend, Reneé Mitchell; and many other loving friends. His service will be 1 p.m. Wednesday at Owen Funeral Home, 5317 Dixie Hwy., with entombment in Evergreen Cemetery. Visitation will be Tuesday, 11 a.m.-8 p.m. at the funeral home.
