David Albert Florence, Jr., 79, of Fairdale, Kentucky, passed away on July 19, 2022. He was born in Louisville, Kentucky on July 26, 1942, to the late David Sr. and Edith Florence.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Shirley Florence.
Left to cherish the memories of David’s life is his wife, Mary Florence; his sons, Robert Florence and Randy McQueen; and his grandchildren, Kayla, Michelle, Derek Schafer, Kyle Gnau, Andrew Gnau, and Layla McQueen.
David was affectionately known as “Super Wrench”, a title he held dear to his heart. He worked for 35 years as a mechanic for Philip Morris. David was a devout Catholic. He loved hot rods and NASCAR, especially Tony Stewart. After retiring, David and Mary enjoyed many years in their motor home driving back and forth to their home in Sanibel Island, Florida. While residing in Sanibel Island, He loved to go fishing. There was nothing David couldn’t fix, and his knowledge and skill will be sorely missed.
Funeral services to celebrate David’s life will be held at 1PM on Saturday, July 23, 2022, at Louisville Memorial Gardens Funeral Home West, 4400 Dixie Highway, with Father Phillip Erickson officiating. Friends may call on the family Saturday from 9AM until service time at the funeral home.
