MILBY, DENNIE S., 86, of Louisville, entered into the Kingdom of God on Sunday, October 9, 2011.
He was a retired truck driver for Smith's Transfer and Kentucky Transport. During his career he was awarded the million mile award for his accident free record. He was a member of Abraham Lodge #8, Scottish Rite and a Shriner. He served in both the Army and Navy during World War II and was a member of the DAV. He suffered from Alzheimers for the past 21 years and was cared for by the angels (nurses and CMA's) at Highland Nursing and Rehab. Special thanks to Baptist Hospital East for providing awesome palliative care.
Dennie was preceded in death by his daughter, Brenda Milby; his sister, Jean Coonley; father, Harry Milby; and mother, Emma Norman.
Survivors include his devoted wife, Patricia Tellman Milby; his sons, Dennie W. (Dixie), Chris (Pam) and Michael; daughters, Susan (Ray) and Debbie (Gary); grandchildren, Cameron Milby, Brittany Tiffany (Damon), Scott Risch (Eve), Dustin Risch (Emily), Shane Milby (Trish), Bryan Milby (Megan), Amanda West (Chase) and JR Baker; and great-grandchildren, Mali and Marie Risch, Ellie Tiffany, Ace and Mavric Milby. He is also survived by his nieces and nephews.
His Celebration of Life Mass will be noon on Wednesday, October 12, 2011 at Church of the Ascension, 4600 Lynnbrook Lane, Louisville, KY, 40220 with burial to follow at Louisville Memorial Gardens East, 11601 Ballardsville Road, Louisville, KY, 40241. Visitation will be 11:30 a.m. - 8 p.m. on Tuesday and after 9 a.m. Wednesday at Arch L. Heady at Resthaven, 4400 Bardstown Road.
