Dolores Day

Dolores Marie Day, 90, passed away on Wednesday, October 5, 2022. She was born on November 25, 1931, to the late William Cummins and the late Cora Wolf Schmitt in Cleves, Ohio. Dolores married Elmer Albert Day in 1960 allowing them to blend their families and together raised 14 children. They never referred to their children as “yours” or “mine”, they were always “ours.” Dolores retired from General Electric and was an active member of Ormsby Heights Baptist Church until recent health issues prevented her from doing so. She continued her mission of reaching out to homebound church members until very recently.

Preceding Dolores in death was her husband, Elmer Albert Day; her aunt, Nellie Freeman; and her children, Victoria Downing (Cecil), Cheryl Edwards, Judith Day, Patricia Kidd (Jim) and Michael Day.

Left to cherish the memories of Dolores’ life are her children, James Day (Dee), Kathleen Branscum (Alex), Dennis Day (Maria), Beverly Cartmell (Gary), Gary Thomas Stith (Angie), Linda Meier (David), Kevin Richard Day, Mary Jane Dunn (Tim), and Kenneth Day; her sister, Mae Dedden; her 39 grandchildren; along with many great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren and other extended family members.

Funeral services for Dolores will be held at 4PM on Tuesday, October 11, 2022, at Louisville Memorial Gardens Funeral Home West, 4400 Dixie Highway. Friends may call on the family on Tuesday from 2:00PM until service time at the funeral home.
