Dorothy Evelyn MacDonald (Milby) Share E-mail Visit Guest Book MACDONALD, DOROTHY EVELYN (MILBY), 86, of Louisville, passed away Saturday, November 28, 2009 at Oaklawn Health and Rehabilitative Center.
Evelyn was born in Cairo, IL, where she was found abandoned in a train station as a newborn.
She was adopted by Fred A. Richards, the sheriff and barber of Gorham, IL and his wife, Etta. In 1942, after attending Southern Illinois University, she met and later married a young travelling song minister, Reverend Eudell Milby, with whom she faithfully and lovingly served as a minister's wife for 32 years until his death in 1975. She married Roy MacDonald in 1979 and enjoyed years of happiness with Roy and his family until his passing in 1997.
Evelyn was the loving and devoted mother of Nancy, who died at birth, and Stephen Milby (Carole), who preceded her in death, and her surviving children Reverend Richard Milby (Sherrye), Reverend Jeanine (Dan) Ash, and David Milby (Alison), stepchildren Robert and Keith MacDonald (Sandi); nine grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
Evelyn was a blessing to all her family and friends and will be cherished in our hearts and memories.
Her Celebration and Remembrance Service will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday at Southeast Christian Church, 920 Blankenbaker Parkway, in the Chapel, with a reception for family and friends at 1 p.m. in the Fireside Room. Arrangements are being handled by Louisville Memorial Gardens.
