SIMS, DOROTHY, 94, 0f Louisville, passed from this life on Tuesday, July 31, 2012 at her home with her family by her side.
She was the former Dorothy Lile Barnes. A native of Grayson County, she was a graduate of Mount St. Joseph College, a teacher in a one room school house, a retired employee of Brown Foreman Distillery, and a member of Most Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Patrick Sims; sons, Robert and Thomas Sims; and a grandson, Andrew Sims.
She is survived by her sons, Bill, Tony, Art, Richard, Ken and Jeff Sims; daughters, Barbara Semones, Martha Jean Liebert, and Mary Sims; a sister, Mary Clark; 25 grandchildren, 47 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; and a daughter-in-law, Lesa who helped care for her.
A funeral mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Saturday at Most Blessed Sacrament, 3509 Taylor Blvd. Interment will follow in Louisville Memorial Gardens West. Visitation will be from 2-8 p.m. Friday at the Southern Home of Arch L. Heady & Son, 3601 Taylor Blvd. Memorial gifts may be made to Hosparus of Louisville or the Alzheimer's Association of KY.
