COLBURN, DWIGHT, 90, of Shively, was born July 5, 1922 to the late Thomas Jefferson and Viola Lindsey Colburn in Butler County, KY and returned to his Heavenly Father April 1, 2013.
Mr. Colburn was a veteran U.S. Army serving in World War II, a retired employee for General Electric where he served 31 years of faithful service and a member of Shively Church of Christ.
Among those who preceded him in death include his parents; sisters, Lear Phelps, Laura Basham, Donna Terrance, Pearl Phelps and Alma Hoffman; brothers, Rudolph and Hanca Colburn; great grandchild, Jamie Gossman.
He leaves to cherish his memory his beloved wife of 59 years, Mary Frances Chilton Colburn; daughters, Beverly Turner (Johnny) and Sheila Gossman (Bob); son, Ronald Colburn (Fran); brother, Ralph Colburn; five grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and a host of other family and friends.
Funeral service will be held noon Friday at Schoppenhorst, Underwood and Brooks (Preston Highway at Brooks Road) with interment in Louisville Memorial Gardens West. Friends may pay their respects from 3-8 p.m. Thursday at Schoppenhorst.
