Earl Mitchell

Mitchell, Earl D. View/Sign Guest Book MITCHELL, EARL D, 93, passed away January 14, 2009. Earl was born February 22, 1915, in Olaton, KY. He was the eldest son of the late Fred and Odie Mitchell. He built homes in the Louisville area and worked many years for American Synthetic Rubber Corp, now Michelin. Earl married Elsie Christine Price in 1938 and they had two children, Patricia Ann and Jerry Ronald. Earl was married to Betty C. Fowler in 1949 and they enjoyed a long and successful marriage of 46 years when she passed away. Earl was preceded in death by his grandson, Ronald Goodwin; stepson, Donald Elam; his younger brother, Aaron B.; and sister, Pearl. Earl is survived by his daughter, Patricia A Goodwin of Louisville; his son, Jerry R. Mitchell (Shirl) of North Palm Beach, FL; four grandchildren, Patressa Goodwin Strange, Melissa Goodwin Flatt, Laurie Mitchell Elliott (Edward L. IV) and Douglas C. Mitchell (Christine Lawrence); ten great-grandchildren; one great- grandchild; daughter-in-law, Beverly Elam; and two step-grandsons, Michael Elam and Eric Elam. Funeral service will be noon Friday at the Heady-Hardy Funeral Home, 7710 Dixie Highway, with burial in Louisville Memorial Gardens West. Visitation will be 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Thursday.
