Earl Walker

WALKER, EARL L., passed away on Tuesday, April 1, 2014 at the age of 89. Earl was born in Watuga, IL, to Mary Margaret Hart Walker and Elbert Walker. The family returned to Big Clifty, Kentucky after the untimely death of Earl's father. He remained in the area until shortly after marrying Nina Hawks, his wife of 61 years. During his life Earl was known for his easy smile and friendly nature and his love of fishing and gardening. He was always happy to see family, friends and neighbors. His family was his greatest joy in life, especially his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Earl was a member of South End Church of Christ. Earl was preceded in death by his wife, Nina; his parents, Maggie and Elbert Walker; his brothers, James and Russell Glenn Walker; and sister-in-law, Nelsie Walker. He is survived by his children, Carolyn, Sharon (husband Todd Young), Wayne and Paula (husband Neil Kunkel); grandchildren, Kimberly Young McFarland (husband Andy), Bret Walker, Maggie and Sarah Kunkel; and great-grandchildren, Megan and Molly McFarland; brother, Charles Walker and wife, Helen; sister-in-law, Verlie Walker; half-brother, Carlos Pence and wife, Ruth; and numerous nieces and nephews. The family would like to thank the staff and residents of Twinbrook Assisted Living Apartments, Orlando Turner and Bill Stewart for the care and friendship provided to Earl. Visitation will be held at Owen Funeral home on Dixie Highway on Friday, April 4 from 2-8 p.m. and Saturday at 10 a.m. with the funeral at 11 a.m. with burial to follow at Louisville Memorial Gardens.
