Edith Covington

COVINGTON, EDITH J., 97, of Louisville, passed away Thursday, May 12, 2011 at Springhurst Health and Rehab Center.

Edith was a graduate of New Castle High School. After marriage, she and her husband "Jep" owned and operated a dairy farm near LaGrange for many years while raising their family. Edith later worked for several years as the bookkeeper for the old Head's Drug Store in LaGrange until her retirement.

She was active in her church and was a member of WMU. Edith enjoyed being part of the local Garden Club and was active in Homemaker's Club for nearly 50 years. When Tri County Baptist Hospital opened in 1987, she volunteered and worked tirelessly in the hospital for more than 10 years. Edith was a member of Ballardsville Baptist Church for many years and later at LaGrange Baptist Church.

Edith was preceded in death by her loving husband of 50 years , J.M. Covington; and beloved daughter and son-in-law, Jean and Bill Larkin.

She is survived by her daughter, Pat Kirk (Larry) of Louisville; grandson Steven Larkin (Pamela) of Shelbyville; granddaughter, Stephanie Lynne Jackson (Scott) of LaGrange; sisters, Annabelle Rogers of LaGrange and Joyce Conlin (Jay) of Louisville.

The family wishes to thank the caregivers at Springhust Health & Rehab and Hosparus of Louisville for their loving support.

Her funeral will be 10 a.m. Monday, May 16, 2011 at Oldham County Funeral Home, 706 W. Jefferson, LaGrange, with burial at Louisville Memorial Gardens East. Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
