Finch, Edith May Brown 89, of Bardstown, KY (formerly La Grange and Louisville), entered eternal life on Thursday, August 8, 2024. Born September 11, 1934, she was a daughter of the late Joseph Alphonsus and Florence Rose Bond Brown.
A current member of Basilica of St. Joseph Proto Cathedral in Bardstown, Edith was of the Catholic faith, and she faithfully served in various ministries at St. Columba and St. Denis in Louisville, and Immaculate Conception in La Grange.
Before her retirement she was a beautician and salon manager in Louisville for over 40 years. She was a beautiful, loving, energetic, and friendly soul who dedicated her entire life to serving her Lord, her husband, her children, and her grand and great grandchildren. She was also passionate about quilting and loved to see the expression on people’s faces when she gifted them with one of her treasures.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Walter B. “Pete” Finch Jr, to whom she was married for 62 years, her great grandson Tate Finch, and her siblings, Clara Ann Brown Hines, Mary Josephine Brown, William Francis Brown, Robert Anthony Brown, John Lewis Brown, and Malcolm Leo Brown.
She is survived by her children, Steven Finch (Connie) of Bardstown, Catherine Davis (Gordon) of Lexington, Paula Thompson (George) of Cox’s Creek, Donald Finch (Lisa) of Louisville, Thomas Finch (Linda) of La Grange, 11 grandchildren, and 19 great grandchildren. She is also survived by her siblings, Rose Mary “Rosie” Hynes, Charles Brown, Samuel Brown, Rev. Benedict Brown, Teresa Tabor, Mary Jo “Joey” Barry, and Jean “Jeanie” Prather.
Visitation is 2:00pm - 7:00pm Friday, August 16, 2024, with a “Time of Remembrance” from 7:00pm - 8:00pm at Louisville Memorial Gardens West Funeral Home, 4400 Dixie Hwy, Louisville, KY 40216.
Her brother, Rev. Benedict Brown will preside over her funeral Mass at 11:00am, Saturday, August 17, 2024, at St. Lawrence Catholic Church, 1925 Lewiston Drive, Louisville, KY 40216, with interment to follow in Louisville Memorial Gardens West.
Pallbearers are her grandsons: Christopher Davis, Caleb Finch, Jameson Finch, David Finch, Paul Thompson, and Jonathan Finch.
Honorary pallbearers are her granddaughters: Courtney Taylor, Renee Kilty, Rebekah Braun, Jacquelyn Kiekhefer, and Annalise Finch.
Expressions of sympathy may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association and Hospice of Nelson County.
