PRIDDY, EDITH LAVERNE (SULLIVAN), 84, passed away peacefully on Friday, January 25, 2013 with family at her side.
Edith worked many years at Thrifty Department Store and Mohawk Drug Store; she loved her customers and made lots of friends during her life in Highland Park. She served as a precinct captain during numerous elections and was member of the Wilder Park Neighborhood Association. Edith and Coy were married in November 1948 on stage, live on WHAS radio in Renfro Valley where Coy was a Bluegrass music entertainer for over 40 years. Edith was also a member of the Joyful Four Gospel Quartet, Sunday School Teacher and a life long member of Brookview Baptist Church. She loved her U of L Cardinals and WKU Hill Toppers.
She was preceded in death by her husband Coy Gilbert Priddy; mother and father, Anna Mae and Wilbert Sullivan; four brothers, Wilbert Arthur, Charles, Ralph and Paul Sullivan; three sisters, Betty Stephens, Norma Russell and Wilma Russell; former son-in-law, Robert A. Doolin, Sr.; and a grandson, Richard Anthony Doolin.
She is survived by her son, Coy Brent Priddy (Denise); and daughter, Kathy Doolin Priddy; a sister, Marlena Brown (Everett) of DeMossville, KY; three sister-in-laws, Sue Sullivan of Butler, KY, Mable Sullivan of Falmouth, KY and Billy Sullivan of Covington; two brother-in-laws Virgil and Merle Priddy (Wilma) of Louisville, KY; aunt Vidas Race of Butler; five grandchildren, Angela Doolin Ludwig (Kenny), Robyn Doolin Rose (Greg), Christopher Doolin (Amanda), Blake Priddy and Kara Priddy, all of Louisville; eight great-grandchildren, Robert A. Doolin III, Caleb and Micah Doolin, Thomas and Nicholas Ludwig, Logan, Kylie and Gracie Rose; two great-great-grandchildren; and a host of loving nieces, nephews and friends, as well as her doggy Dolly.
We have all been blessed to have witnessed the life of this wonderful Christian woman worthy of spending eternity with the Lord.
A special thank you to the Nursing staff at Parkway Medical. The love and care that you provided will never be forgotten. You were all more like her children and grandchildren then employees.
Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Tuesday at Owen Funeral Home, 5317 Dixie Highway with burial in Louisville Memorial Gardens West. Visitation will be 2 - 8 p.m. Monday, and after 10 a.m. on Tuesday.
Memorial gifts may be made to Parkway Medical Center, Sixth Floor, Activity Fund.
