BLOCK, ELTA C., 102, a Louisville resident, entered into rest April 22, 2012.

She was preceded by her husband, Raymond W. Block; and three sisters, Thelma Morris, Edna Lewis and Hilda Hall, all of Louisville.

She is survived by her son, Gerald B. Klinglesmith of Louisville, and three daughters; Betty Kramer of Louisville, Joyce Thompson of Palm Harbor, FL, and Janice Brown of Riverview, FL; also by 15 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; and 22 great-great-grandchildren.

Due to her long-term participation in various religious, civic and social organizations she maintained an avid interest in these matters throughout life. She provided many years of leadership and service to such organizations as the YWCA, Louisville Hiking Club, Asher Council, and Hikes Point Christian Church. Her pastor, the Reverend Scottie Richmond of Hikes Point Christian Church, will conduct funeral services at noon on Thursday in the Chapel of Arch L. Heady at Resthaven Funeral Home located at 4400 Bardstown Road. The family will be receiving friends beginning at 2- 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Interment will be at Louisville Memorial Gardens West.
