KIPER, EMMA LOU, 89, of Louisville, KY, passed away February 4, 2013 at Springhurst Health and Rehab surrounded by her loving family.

She was born on January 27, 1924 in Inez, KY, to the late Frank and Fannie Small Delong. She was a longtime member of the Southend Church of Christ.

In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by her husband, Lt. Norman Kiper who was with the Louisville police department for many years; siblings, Rosie, Babe, Vernie, Janie, Maggie, Garnet, Arthur, Hook, Howard, John, Bill and Trix; and a niece, Fern Carty.

She is survived by her loving daughter, Norma McDowell (Albert); two grandsons, Todd Metcalf (Beth) and Tony Metcalf (Sandy); three great-grandchildren, Katie, Tyler and Isabella Metcalf; and two sisters, Stella and Georgina.

The family would like to thank Parr's and Springhurst Health and Rehab for all the love, care and compassion they have shown to Emma.

A celebration of her life will be conducted on Friday at noon at Arch L. Heady at Resthaven, 4400 Bardstown Road, with interment in Louisville Memorial Gardens West. Visitation will be Thursday from 3-8 p.m. at the funeral home.

Expressions of sympathy are suggested to Hosparus or Parr's Assisted Living endowment fund.
