Ernie Ray Allen

March 17, 1941 — September 14, 2024

Ernie "Ray" Allen, 83, of Louisville, Kentucky, passed away peacefully on September 14, 2024. Born on March 17, 1941, to the late William and Fannie Allen. He now joins his siblings, Ernest Allen, David Allen, and Evelyn Messer, in heaven.

Ray shared 43 years of love and companionship with his beloved wife, Nevada Allen. Their years together were filled with laughter, countless cherished memories, and a deep bond that will continue to live on in Nevada’s heart.

Ray lived a full and vibrant life, touching the hearts of those around him. He found peace in outdoor activities like hunting, fishing, and walking along nature trails. Ray was a semi truck driver for many years as he loved traveling the surrounding states. A dedicated UK basketball fan, Ray also loved visiting flea markets and made fast friends wherever he went. He was happiest when surrounded by his family and friends, often enjoying his favorite treat—ice cream. Known for his gentle, soft-spoken demeanor, Ray was always smiling and brought joy to everyone who had the pleasure of knowing him.

Alongside his wife, Ray is survived by his daughters, Theresa Warren (Alan), Terri Brock (Nolan), and Tamara Embry. His grandchildren—Heather Kennedy (Matthew), Ericka Hart (Christopher), and Jason McDonald Jr.—and great-grandchildren, Madelyn Hart, Graceyn Hart, and Ava Kennedy, were blessings in his life. His brother, Bob Allen (Shannon), and sister, Bernadine Biegel, will continue to carry on his legacy. Ray will be remembered fondly by numerous nieces, nephews, and many friends whose lives he touched.

Visitation will be held on Monday, September 23, 2024, from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm at Louisville Memorial Gardens West. Services will follow at 2:00 pm, where family and friends will gather to celebrate Ray’s life and the many beautiful memories he leaves behind.
