KLINGENFUS, ETTA COBB McALISTER, 93,passed away peacefully Saturday, October 10,2009 at Baptist Hospital, Northeast in LaGrange, KY.
Etta was born to Joseph and Catherine McAlister in Stanford, KY on August 3, 1916. She was a graduate of Stanford High School, attended Brenau College in Gainesville, GA and received her training as a teacher at Western Kentucky Teachers College. In the 1930s and 1940s she taught elementary school at Broughton Town and Crestwood, KY. In the 1970s she was the bookmobile librarian for the Oldham County Public Library.
Etta enjoyed life on the farm with her family. She shared her love of raising hundreds of baby calves with her children and grandchildren.
On August 14, 1942 she married the love of her life, Alfred "Al" Klingenfus of Crestwood. They shared a joyful life together for over 66 years.
Etta was the beloved mother of five sons, Clayton "Corky" Klingenfus (Karen), of Louisville, Eric "Rick" Klingenfus (Janell), of Smithfield, KY, Gerald "Jerry" Klingenfus (Becky), of Crestwood, Jeffrey Klingenfus (Connie), of Smithfield, and William "Billy Mac" Klingenfus, deceased. She was the adored grandmother of 11 and great-grandmother of 12. She was "Aunt Cobbie" to many loving nieces and nephews.
Etta was a devoted follower of Jesus Christ and actively participated in the Mt. Tabor United Methodist Church.
Funeral service: 11 a.m. Tuesday at the Mt. Tabor United Methodist Church with burial at Louisville Memorial Gardens East. Visitation: 2-8 p.m. Monday at Stoess Funeral Home, Crestwood; 10-11 a.m. Tuesday at church.
