Eufaula G. Newcom "Granny" Pierce | Visit Guest Book PIERCE, EUFAULA G. NEWCOM "GRANNY," left this world peacefully on Monday, June 14, 2010.
She was born on October 17, 1925 to Minnie Dallas and Lilburn Lowe Newcom in Ohio County, KY, and lived most of her life in Louisville. Eufaula moved to Waxahachie, TX in 1997 and was a resident there until her death. She was married to Troy A. Pierce in 1941 and the couple had three children.
Eufaula was employed by the Lorillard Corporation in Louisville where she was known as "Gaye." She was a member of Calvary Assembly of God in Louisville for more than 50 years and loved her church family. Her many friends and co-workers enjoyed her sense of humor and knew her as a loyal and supportive friend.
She leaves behind a loving family: daughter, Wilma "Julie" Mitchell and husband, Hayes; son, Dennis Gerald; daughter Pamela "Kasi" Jones and husband, Don. "Granny" has nine grandchildren, Sandra Tanner (Jeff), Robbi Goldstein, Griffin Goldstein, Amy Goldstein, Chris Pierce (Corrin), Blake Pierce (Kendra), Donovan Jones, Brady Jones (Kristen) and Cameron Jones; and 12 great-grandchildren, Wesley Holt, Sam Holt, Coty Campos-Goldstein, Ben Holt, Daniel Tanner, Keith Goldstein, Lexy Goldstein, Jake Goldstein, Madelynn Pierce, Jayce Pierce, Clara Pierce and Davin Jones; and her sister, Edna Sandefur of New Albany.
The family extends special thanks to Lighted Pathways Hospice Care and Dr. T. G. Ledbetter, Ava Lynn, and Chaplain Dalvin for their kindness, compassion and care given to Eufaula in the past few weeks.
The family will host a visitation and memorial service on Monday, June 21, 2010 from 10 a.m. - noon at the Louisville Memorial Gardens West Chapel on Dixie Highway.
