RICH, EVA, 85, passed away at 10:12 a.m. Sunday, February 9, 2014 at The Episcopal Church Home in Louisville. Born Eva Marie Meredith on May 10, 1928 in Summit, KY to Robert Meredith and Stella Vincent Meredith, she was raised in Leitchfield, KY. She moved to Louisville in her teenage years and was employed at a Louisville Cigar Factory, Enro Shirt Factory, Bremer Biscuit Company, The Federal Ammunition Plant and various other jobs. Eva married Michael Rich on January 10, 1949 and became a wife, mother and homemaker. Her true love was her large extended family. Her hobbies included sewing, embroidery, quilting, decorating and crafting. Christmas was her favorite holiday. Eva enjoyed helping others--everyone who knew this woman loved her--and she was a true Christian. Eva was preceded in death by her parents; husband; and siblings, Bernice Meredith, Edna West and Geraldine Hukle. Eva is survived by her four children, James "Jim" Rich (Janet), Pamela "Susan" Gray, Jacqueline "Jackie" Thomas (Perry) and Anita Jarboe (Jeffrey), all of Louisville; her three siblings, Georgia Hunt of Louisville, Betty Rich of Leitchfield and James Meredith of Sherman, TX; her sister-in-law and great friend, Edith Hanka (Bill); 10 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren and six great-great- grandchildren--she was "Mamaw" to them all; and many cherished nieces, nephews and friends. The family would like to extend their gratitude to the Clifton family; the staff and volunteers of Hosparus of Louisville; Dee "G," Jennifer, Daniel, Darlene, Shelley and the wonderful, caring Morton nursing staff at The Episcopal Church Home. Visitation is 2-8 p.m. Wednesday at Highlands Funeral Home, 3331 Taylorsville Road, with a memorial service at 11 a.m. Thursday. Burial will follow at Louisville Memorial Gardens West.
