COMPTON, FRANCES, 89, of Louisville passed away on Tuesday, December 25, 2012 at Oaklawn Health & Rehab.

She was the former Frances Jane Craig. She attended Louisville Girls High School, was a former member of Beechmont United Methodist Church, a member of Southeast Christian Church. She also worked side by side with her husband at Compton Real Estate and Insurance. Frances was a member of Eastern Star #374 and past president of Louisville Insurance Women and a member of Kosair Oriental Ladies.

Frances was preceded in death by her loving husband of 59 years, James W. Compton, her parents, James F. Sr. and Edith Craig, brothers, John W., James F. Jr., Kenneth D. Sr. and sister, Betty Jean Ostertag.

Surviving her is her sister Evelyn Craig Peace; caregiver and niece, Cynthia Craig Wilhem, seven other nieces and four nephews.

Frances was a strong Christian woman, greatly loved by her family and many friends.

Her service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, December 29, 2012 at Highlands Family Owned Funeral Home, 3331 Taylorsville Rd. with burial to follow at Louisville Memorial Gardens West. Visitation will be 2 - 8 p.m. Friday at Highlands.

The family would like to thank Elizabeth Baker and Charlene Thomasson for their devoted friendship and love. We would also like to thank Oaklawn Nursing Home for their kind and loving care they had given Frances for the past five years.
